Utah Career College has an immediate opening for a Nursing Program Chair for our Associate in Applied Science nursing program located in West Jordan. The program is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission..
Considered full-time, exempt salaried employee with 100% on-campus presence to provide support to program, faculty and students as well as support administration and the campus as a whole. Program Chair teaching loads are determined on a quarterly basis taking into account factors such as department size, administrative responsibilities, additional duties, corporate involvement, etc. Nursing Instructor position description includes the following responsibilities as well as all duties of a full-time instructor.

Education/work experience requirements:

Have a current, active, unencumbered RN or APRN license or multistate privilege to practice nursing in Utah;

Have a minimum of an earned graduate degree with a major in nursing from a nurse accredited education program;

Experience in nursing education and program administration preferred

Education/work experience determined by type of course taught. See policy 5.027, Faculty Preparation Minimums and the Utah Board of Nursing stipulations.

General Campus Responsibilities Include:
Classroom

Develop and present the curriculum as stated in the course syllabus.(Provide any course addendum to syllabus to DOF on a quarterly basis).

Develop and prepare various teaching methodologies appropriate for the specific course and content.

Distribute and explain course syllabus and school policy and procedures to students.

Prepare, administer and grade evaluation criteria to assess student progress on a timely basis.(Worksheets, quizzes, tests, reports/term papers, class participation, group work and other techniques as appropriate.

Maintain accurate attendance and evaluation records and submit according to campus guidelines.

Motivate students to complete course objectives through involvement in learning activities.

Conduct classroom learning experiences with applicable procedures: Serving as moderator/facilitator, presenting lectures and demonstrations, field trips, guest speakers, case studies and other activities as appropriate.

Incorporate presentation techniques appropriate to a variety of learning styles to accommodate different student needs.

Keep students aware of their progress in class and return all communications promptly.

Hold all classes as scheduled.

If online instructor, observe and follow all policies as outlined for online instructors.

Assist campus by substituting for other instructors as requested.

Comply with MSB/Globe College Academic Freedom/Academic Integrity Policy.
Curriculum

Participation to maintain up-to-date curriculum.

Recommend changes based on industry needs.

Attend annual advisory board meetings.

Attend quarterly in-service and departmental meetings.

Attend seminars, workshops as outlined in professional development plan.

Administrative

Attend new instructor training, methods seminars, impromptu department meetings and online training as needed or requested.

Attend Graduation.

Submit final grades the following Monday of week 12 at noon.

Maintain classroom equipment and supplies.

Attend faculty meetings.

Attend Orientation if requested by campus administration.

Assist in overall school retention efforts by:
i.Identifying at risk students.
ii.Reporting any attendance concerns to education department promptly.
iii.Providing a caring and supportive learning environment.
iv.Relating current learning to students ultimate goal of a new career.
v.Providing tutoring and advising as necessary.

Assist in credit transfers and substitute teaching as requested

Check all campus communication regularly (ie: e-mail, mailboxes, voicemail).

Complete additional duties as assigned.

Other duties as assigned.
