Job Description:
This position, under direction of an Exercise Physiologist, is responsible for quality patient care to all participants enrolled in the program. Also assists in electrodiagnostic monitoring and patient evaluations.Posting Specifics
Primarily located at Intermountain Medical Center with additional shift support at Park City Hospital and Riverton Hospital.
Scope
Position scope is limited to basic testing and pre-defined exercises and therapies only.
Job Essentials
Completes general evaluations on new patients to determine therapy/treatment needs. Where additional health problems or complications are involved Exercise Therapist refers evaluations to Exercise Physiologist.
Administer diagnostic treadmill stress tests.
Assists patients with prescribed therapeutic exercises.
Adapts exercise programs as appropriate to best help patient meet improvement goals.
Accurately interprets EKGs and/or diagnostic tests.
Provides basic education to patients on exercise programs, health needs, and risks.
Completes appropriate documentation including evaluation reports and discharge summaries.
Cleans, maintains, and inspects exercise equipment. Reports repair/maintenance needs.
Coordinates patient care with other patient care providers as appropriate to ensure proper, continuous, and beneficial treatment.
Responds appropriately to emergency situations.
Participates in evaluation of current practices, program improvement, and development of new procedures and practices to improve patient care.
Continues to enhance knowledge in field of practice and stays updated on industry trends and changes.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Exercise Physiology or a related field from an accredited institution (degree will be verified).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.
Basic EKG interpretation and arrhythmia detection skills (or within 6 months of hire).
Preferred Qualifications
ACSM Exercise Specialist Certification or NSCA Certification.
ACLS Certification.
Applicable experience.
