The Nursing Graduate works under direct line-of-sight supervision of the Registered Nurse in the clinical setting and participates appropriately in the patient care delivery process. The incumbent also orients to the RN assignment, excluding independent nursing care. This position may participate in medication administration under the direction and supervision of the licensed RN.

Duties on Med/Surg Unit:

Patient medications and treatments, ADLs, admit, discharge, per-op, post-op, doctor communication, family communication, patient education, patient assessments, interdisciplinary communication. Communication, communication, communication. Using assessments to know when changes happen and who and how to communicate and react to that info.

Unit information:

The unit has 24 beds; theaverage nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5 and 1:8-10 for CNAs; we take care of adults not necessarily needing surgery but not critical enough to need ICU like pneumonia, other infections, diabetic issues, andheart issues- excluding childbirth.

  • Shift Details: Full- time ( 36 hours per week) NIGHTS 3 SHIFTS PER WEEK 5AM-5PM. NIGHTS AND WEEKENDS ARE REQUIRED.
  • Additional Details: Shift differentials are given for evenings, nights, and weekends

**RNs with less than 12 months of working experience as an RN prior to joining Intermountain must obtain their BSN within five years of their start date.

Minimum Qualifications:

New Grad RN - Unlicensed

Entry Pay: $30.27

  • Successful completion of a recognized and accredited Nursing/RN education program (education will be verified).

Registered Nurse - Licensed

Entry Pay: $33.19

  • Current RN License in state of practice.

Licensed and Unlicensed RN

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for healthcare providers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

The New Grad RN position is for those who have graduated nursing school and not yet taken their NCLEX or RN's with less than one year of RN experience. Those hired as a New Grad RN are required for have transcripts showing graduation from nursing school and will work under a licensed RN until they pass boards and their RN license can be verified. In conjunction with working on this unit, New Grad RNs attend Intermountain's one-year nurse residency program. The nurse residency program supports New Grad RNs in their transition from classroom to caregiver through 72 paid clinical hours, webinars, simulations, case studies, and quarterly in person meetings. Physical Requirements:

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.

Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.

Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.

Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.

Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).

May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
