Overview

This position is intended to be an intermediate level position where the employee has above average knowledge of facilities, building systems, equipment, tools and can be self- sufficient in their job role. This employee shall possess the desire to continue learning and growing with all aspects of facilities and intends to make progress in a career in facilities. The primary role requires supporting, coordinating, and performing work in trade areas such as: HVAC and control systems, fire systems, RO systems, security systems, elevator maintenance, lighting and control systems, restroom maintenance, minor plumbing, general repairs and maintenance, minor construction, and painting. Schedule varies and On-call schedule will apply.

Employee will be provided on the job training (OJT) and must be willing to proactively learn on their own, with their supervisors and in group settings.

Primary role requires supporting, coordinating, or performing work in trade areas such as (but not limited to): HVAC and Control Systems, Fire Systems, RO Systems, Security Systems, Elevator maintenance, Lighting and Control Systems, Restroom maintenance, minor plumbing, general repairs and maintenance, minor construction, and painting.

  • Provides preventative maintenance work for various facilities and building systems.
  • Must be willing to begin learning Project Management techniques and processes and have ability to begin to oversee small/medium size remodel/construction projects.
  • Ability to learn and utilize facilities maintenance software to review, track and record all maintenance work.
  • Will be required to share a rotation of the on-call schedule and emergency callouts. On call typically consists of a rotation of 24 hour on call for 7 days at a time.
  • Oversees furniture installs, employee relocations and building move-outs
  • Operates power equipment that includes drills, power saws, and other equipment as required.
  • Removes snow from walks, steps, ramps, and parking lots.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as operation manuals, safety data sheets, and work orders.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management, employees, and visitors.
  • Ability to solve routine problems and deal with a variety of variables.
  • Ability to understand and give a variety of written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to quickly assess a variety of data in emergencies in order to develop effective solutions.
  • Experience in the use of computers and software applications.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or G.E.D is acceptable; however, some post high school education is preferred.
  • Possess a valid Utah Driver's License.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience is required in following trades; carpentry, plumbing, painting, HVAC and/or electrical trades is required. This can be from a combination of prior experience or OJT as noted above.
  • Schedule varies and On-call schedule will apply.

Physical Requirements

Lifting Requirements - medium work or exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds of force frequently, and 20 pounds of force consistently.

Physical Requirements - stationary positioning, moving, operating, ascending/descending, communicating, observing, reaching and repetitive motion. Use of equipment and tools necessary to perform essential job functions. Hazards and Atmospheric Conditions - exposure to fumes, dust, extreme temperatures, wet and/or humid, noise, vibration, mists or gases, mechanical hazards, chemical hazards, electrical hazards and radiant energy hazards. OSHA category II - normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue, but exposure or potential for exposure may occur.
