Overview
Utah State University's invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor tenure-track position in Science or STEM Education. Join an outstanding group of STEM education scholars who are making a difference in schools and the scholarly discipline. The anticipated start date is August 2025. Review of applications will begin September 30, 2024 and continue until the position is filled. This is a nine-month, academic-year appointment with the opportunity for summer employment. The position is on the USU main campus in Logan, Utah, a Carnegie R1 Institution of Higher Education. This position is not eligible for remote work.

USU's Science and STEM education faculty seek to hire a new collegue with a science and/or STEM-focused research agenda. Research foci such as, but not limited to, K-12 engineering education, integrated STEM+computing teaching and learning, computer science teacher education, and STEM special education are welcomed. The ideal candidate for this position must demonstrate a strong record of, or show potential for:
  • peer-reviewed journal publications
  • obtaining extramural research funding
  • recruiting and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students
  • being an effective classroom teacher at the undergraduate and the graduate levels who is capable of using a variety of delivery modalities
  • providing meaningful service to Utah State University, the residents of Utah, and the profession.

Responsibilities
  • Engage in academic scholarship, including grant writing, and conducting and publishing research in science education or STEM education.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in TEALs Science Teacher Education Programs using face-to-face and online delivery methods (both synchronous and asynchronous).
  • Chair and serve on graduate student committees.
  • Provide service to the department, institution and field.


Qualifications
ASSISTANT PROFESSOR RANK

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Earned EdD or PhD by August 2025 in education, curriculum and instruction, learning sciences, or a closely related field.
  • A record of refereed publications appropriate to rank.
  • A commitment to inclusive excellence in research, teaching, and mentoring.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Interdisciplinary scholarly interests.
  • Experience working on and/or obtaining extramural research funding through grant writing and/or public/private contracts.
  • Experience with distance education delivery and learning management systems.
  • K-12 classroom teaching experience.

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR RANK

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Earned EdD or PhD in education, curriculum and instruction, learning sciences, or a closely related field.
  • A record of refereed publications appropriate to rank.
  • Record of secured extramural research funding through grants/contracts.
  • A research agenda with national recognition.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive excellence in research, teaching, and mentoring.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Interdisciplinary scholarly interests.
  • Experience with distance education delivery and learning management systems.
  • K-12 classroom teaching experience.
  • Evidence of excellence in university teaching.
  • A record of successful graduate advising.
