Step into Your New Role

Kleinfelder is looking for an Environmental Group Manager to manage, lead and expand our Environmental Group in the Salt Lake City office. This position will be responsible for overseeing a growing team of 8-10 environmental professionals within our environmental team in Utah, growing the service line, and working with other leaders across the Central Division to help grow the practice. We are looking for a dynamic, confident, and motivated individual with the ability to lead and inspire growth within the Environmental Group.

This is an exciting and challenging position that requires exceptional verbal and written communication skills and a highly organized and responsive candidate, capable of working in a diverse team environment and handling multiple tasks with competing priorities. This position will be responsible for the development of staff, revenue growth, and will provide senior technical oversight for the execution of site assessment and environmental compliance and remediation projects/programs in Utah and the Central Division of the U.S. The ideal candidate will work diligently with the Area Manager and other team leaders to build new client relationships and develop projects in the region as well as leverage existing client relationships. Other responsibilities include building, managing and mentoring environmental professionals, developing and implementing business strategies, and ensuring the safe execution of all phases of project work to meet our clients' objectives as well as company goals for revenue generation and profitability. Works independently and as integral team member/leader, using knowledge of industry and/or professional guidelines and protocols to accomplish goals and objectives and solve problems of diverse scope. We offer a hybrid office schedule but require this position to be in-office approximately 60% of the week.

Responsibilities:

Team Leadership

    Manage and supervise a growing team of 8- 10 environmental professionals. Provide leadership in managing staff performance, recruiting and retention, and mentoring personnel for overall success of practice and team.
  • Foster and maintain a positive culture and working environment in both the environmental group and throughout the office.

Technical/Project Management

  • Direct and prepare soil and groundwater assessments, feasibility studies, Phase I/IIs, remedial action plans, remediation system design/operation, construction, and other supporting technical studies.
  • Oversee large programs and multiple projects simultaneously within scope, schedule, budget and ensure quality is achieved on project deliverables.

Client/Business Development

  • As a practice builder/doer seller, identify and develop new opportunities, prepare effective technical proposals and take an active leadership role in the development of business with new and existing clients. Develop and expand client relationships that generate repeat business.
  • Through a combination of excellence in technical delivery and business development, capitalize on existing client relationships to expand market share in the local market, while serving national/global clients, as necessary.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or other related field. Master's degree or equivalent desired. PE preferred.


Experience: 8-9 years of related experience, demonstrating successful development and management of staff and project/program management experience desired. 5 - 6 years project management experience and knowledge of applicable laws and regulations required. 3 - 4 years supervisory/management experience required.
