This experienced RN position will be full time, variable shifts, working in the Cardio Thoracic Unit at McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah.

Unit Specifics:

  • The Cardiovascular Thoracic Unit is a 27 bed Intermediate care unit located on the 3rd floor of McKay-Dee Hospital.

  • We care for a variety of patients including STEMI's, CABG, TAVR, Heart Failure, Sepsis, Stroke, DKA, Thoracic and Vascular surgeries.

  • The majority of our patients come from the OR, ICU and Cath Lab.

  • Our team is highly trained in caring for Cardiovascular patients with an emphasis on high acuity intermediate care patients. We cross train all of our RN's to the ICU since we care for ICU level patients on our unit.

  • Shift times; 5am- 5pm, 5pm-5am

  • Patients Ratios: 1:2, 1:3 and 1:4 -RN Ratios (depending on patient acuity)
  • Hours: Full Time 36 hours per week

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current RN License in state of practice.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for healthcare providers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

*RNs with less than 12 months of working experience as an RN prior to joining Intermountain must obtain their BSN within five years of their start date.*

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year experience as an RN
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN). Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.

Physical Requirements:

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- and -
Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
- and -
Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
- and -
Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
- and -
Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).

May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
