Job Description:

We are currently seeking a Director FP&A, Products to join our Boart Longyear team in Salt Lake City, UT.

The Director FP&A, Products will report to the VP, FP&A Products and provide value-added internal financial analysis and decision support to the President of the Products division, as well as the VP of Product Sales and VP of manufacturing. The reporting and analysis activities will allow Senior Management and others to understand business performance and identify key areas of strength as well as opportunities for improvement. This is a key position within the Finance organization with daily exposure to Senior Management.

This individual will need to be a tech-savvy FP&A leader who has strong experience in an industrial/operational setting and understands the complexities of a global corporation. The Director FP&A, Products will need to have a strong continuous learning background and will be comfortable developing financial models to support the business. This position will have two direct Sr Manager reports.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting. MBA or CPA preferred.

  • 10+ years’ experience in FP&A in an industrial business (e.g. mining, oil and gas, construction, transportation), ideally in a mid to large size and/or high growth organization with a global footprint.

  • FP&A experience directly supporting a business unit, as well as FP&A experience in manufacturing and/or supply chain management and experience managing direct reports.

  • Advanced Excel modeling and PowerPoint skills are required.

  • The candidate will possess a knowledge of ERP systems, financial reporting tools, BI Analytics platforms, complex analysis, and financial modeling.

  • Experience with Hyperion and QlikView is a plus

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills with the ability to draw conclusions from analysis.

  • Experience with a private-equity portfolio company is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with President of Products, VP of Product Sales, and VP of Manufacturing and Supply Chain leadership to provide day-to-day and long-term decision support from a financial and analytical perspective.

  • Partner with the CFO and VP Finance to drive EBITDA growth in the organization.

  • Ownership of KPI process, measure results, explain variances and drive corrective actions.

  • Maintain and recommend improvements in monthly reporting, including insightful variance analysis, thorough explanations and root-cause analysis.

  • Lead the annual Budget and quarterly forecast processes for the Products, Manufacturing and Supply Chain organizations.

  • Develop financial trend analysis and summaries of results/drivers.

  • Conduct and evaluate what-if analysis of various business scenarios.

  • Conduct monthly variance analysis and summary presentations to communicate variance drivers and make recommendations to improve performance.

  • Manage systems for financial reporting and data analytics.

  • Establish, train and rollout process improvements across the finance team to ensure consistency in approach across all regions.

  • Evaluate skill/talent gaps and build development plans to improve team competency.

  • Create a culture of continuous improvement within the finance team.

  • Prepare consolidated budgets and reforecasts for the Products, manufacturing and supply chain teams and present materials to Executive team.

  • Create and prepare ad hoc financial and operational modeling and business case analyses to drive better decision making.

  • Coordinate with FP&A, Accounting, Corporate Functions, and Operating Divisions during month end, budgets, reforecasts and other analyses.
